Strewn vs SelfieDump: two apps that pick the photos for you

By · Updated · 2 min read

SelfieDump and Strewn both choose and arrange photos for a dump on the phone. SelfieDump, released in September 2026, focuses on selfies, builds collages and suggests three caption ideas. Strewn explains a story arc order, folds bursts, never generates a caption and is still in development.

What do both apps do?

Both read your photos on the device and try to cut the choosing time. SelfieDump looks for sharp, varied shots and fewer near-duplicates. Strewn reads sharpness, light and color from small previews and compares them for twins.

SelfieDump facts come from its US App Store listing on October 10, 2026. It is new, with three ratings so far. Strewn has no listing yet.

What does SelfieDump do better?

It is available and covers captions: three short suggestions that fit the moment. If you want generated text, Strewn will not give it to you. It is also tuned for selfie-heavy sets, looking for variety across expressions and outfits.

What does Strewn do better?

Strewn shows its work. Every slide has a reason, from the Opener to the Closer, and you can swap or move anything. It never touches your library, keeps its copies in its own storage and has no account or analytics. Details are in on-device privacy.

It also goes past one post: a Sunday recap, an archive, and 9:16 and 1:1 exports. See carousel and collage export.

Who should pick which?

  • Choose SelfieDump for generated caption ideas and selfie sets today.
  • Choose Strewn if you want to understand and control the order.
  • Choose Strewn if you write your own captions.
  • Try both on one week of photos once Strewn ships.

Frequently asked questions

Is Strewn AI?

No. It is pixel math on the phone: sharpness, brightness, color and near-duplicate checks. It does not recognize faces or content.

Does Strewn write captions?

No. It gives prompts such as three words for this week and joins your lines as a list, numbered list or one line.

Is SelfieDump established?

It was released on September 23, 2026 and has three ratings on the US App Store as of October 2026, so reviews are still thin.

Does Strewn need an account?

No. There is no account, no analytics and no network calls of its own.
